On the Isle of Man, there is Peel Castle that was originally constructed by Vikings. It sits on the coastline overlooking the sea. Inside Peel Castle is ruins, a graveyard and the wooden fort by king Magnus Barefoot. The graves include one tomb of "The Pagan Lady" that contained silver coins and jewels. Some have considered that Peel Castle is the true site of Camelot. The most weirdest legend surrounding the Peel Castle is about a phantom black dog named Moddey dhoo.
Moddey dhoo is described as a shaggy black fur dog as big as a calf with glowing red eyes. It was said to appear at night throughout the castle and around the church yard. According to legend, it came from a secret passage connecting the castle with a place where captain of the guards once lived. This passage was soon closed up. Some people have reported seeing a strange phantom black dog in modern times, such as in fields and town outskirts.
This legendary creature was included in volume three of Tales of a Manx Preemie, called "The Black Dog of Peel Castle" by Kieran Metcalfe.
