Himalayas, the land that time forgot?

It's not the first time I've made a review on an article published in media. A UK psychic magazine called Chat it's fate! did an interesting story in the latest issue called "Himalayan Horror". It's not very often this magazine features cryptids as they always focus on the subjects of astrology and ghosts.
They talked about the Abominable Snowman or Yeti monster from the region of the Himalayas. Much of the article started off telling the tale of a Sherpa farm girl who was attacked by a short Yeti near Mount Everest. Five of her yaks were soon found slaughtered, and their necks were broken as if twisted by such force, and their blood had been drained. This was highlighted as being found in a British newspaper that probably exaggerated it to sell copies. I did further research online and found more information about this case. The girl said that the creature attacked her from behind and hit her on the head. Now another time she stated that her hair was pulled. This happened in 1974 when the girl was 19 years old. Crypto Mundo and Crypto Zoo News have covered this girl's story and pointed out holes in the event.
Next in the magazine Chat it's fate! article on the Yeti, mentioned the famous photograph of a large footprint in snow beside a pick axe on the Menlung Glacier. The picture was taken by mountaineer Eric Earle Shipton in 1951. He took a lot of photos of footprints. Nothing in the article mentioned that Shipton as a person liked to make practical jokes. He wrote a couple of books on his journey at Mount Everest but for some reason he didn't mention his experience of the Yeti footprints!
The article concludes that the Yeti is a bear. They mentioned Daniel Taylor the biologist who studied the Yeti subject and concluded it must be a tree bear. It didn't go into detail about the DNA results either. It was quite disappointing that the magazine didn't go further and just stopped with this quote: "brown bears or hairy man-monsters, who knows?" because this DNA of the fur is more mysterious than the Yeti legend itself!
The "Yeti fur" DNA result found a match with a prehistoric polar bear. According to geneticist Bryan Sykes, DNA samples of the Yeti belongs to extinct animals. The appearance and gait of the reported Yeti doesn't match with bears. The mainstream is very happy with the "brown bear" theory, as they've ignored the anomalies. Are there prehistoric bears in the Himalayas? Who knows what it might be. The mystery is still there.
