I choose Athena

There is a question on Quora asking "If you could choose a Greek god for a parent, which one would it be?". So one then. I thought on it and posted my answer. I felt like giving this some advertisement and add here what I wrote:

It would be the goddess Athena. She can be motherly and teach girls that life isn’t all about being sexy for men. There’s more that she encourages a woman and girl to find within herself the power to be strong willed, able to defend herself, also with the courage to protect those she loves, to help nourish her family, provide (food, stability) for her children and parents and lovers. Athena is a goddess of war, arts and wisdom. Those are the three things that girls grow up missing.

War for girls: martial arts, survivalist skills, physical stamina, athletics, accuracy.

Arts: Creativity be it in crotchet, music, painting, writing, business ideas, computer gaming, clothes making, architecture, plans, drafts.

Wisdom: Sciences, plants, herbs, medicines, therapy, books, human psychology.

Athena can teach a girl growing up how to be able to live in the world without depending on others for support. How to read peoples body language and process who is a potential friend or foe. All these life skills and more. She could encourage imagination and inspiration. She’s also a beautiful goddess who knows she’s beautiful but she has armour and protects herself.
