Full moons will bring a sample of werewolf lore starting with this October 2025. The full moon is here and it's also a harvest moon and a supermoon or BLOOD MOON. This means one thing: Werewolves.
Here is an interesting Roman legend of the Versipellis werewolves. The name Versipellis is Latin and it basically means "turning skin" or turnskin. Werewolves were cursed creatures to change at the full moon. They would go to experience natural physical changes, as the Versipellis could transform painlessly. Sometimes the Versipellis could change spiritually, as their mind and soul would become werewolves. They used magical herbs and potions to control their shapeshifting. These werewolves are similar to lycanthropy and much of the descriptions involves the mind. Some would've been linked to darker magic using powerful spells as they were sinister and dangerous creatures.
Also the Versipellis werewolf wasn't simply a natural looking wolf as it didn't appear to look like this but was scary and nightmarish. The Versipellis resembled a huge monster, a bipedal canine, almost a cross of human and wolf. As if the werewolves could walk and think like humans but with many wolf features but far more bigger and chilling. The imagery of them are upright walking with humanlike arms and hands with claws, thick fur and canine noses and fangs. They could blend into the night and hide there, as they were imposing, always taller than human adults, making their big size completely terrifying.
It's not a good time to meet one of those Versipellis! So do stay indoors during the full moon.
