Hair and tears of goddess Pele

The fire goddess in Hawaiian mythology is called Pele and she lives in a volcano. She was responsible for the creation of those islands. She's considered a creator and a destroyer. There is so much evidence, in my view, that she's real and lives.

Her hair:

Her tears:

There is a lot of scientific reasons for Pele's hair and tears.
In mythology Pele has golden hair like fire, and so much of her hair has appeared all over the islands. Both Pele's hair and tears are made from lava. The hair looks like soft hair but is actually fibre glass that was spun from a volcano. The teardrop shaped Pele's tears are droplets of volcanic glass. It's important never to inhale or rub the Pele's hair and tears onto the skin as it will cause irritations.

Similar fibres created by volcanic activity in Iceland is called "Witch's hair" or Nornahar.

Slide-Rock Bolter

The Slide-Rock Bolter is a strange cryptid. First heard about in the 19th Century. Lumberjacks described a vast creature living in the Colorado mountains. It resembled an enormous fish with a huge head filled with razor sharp teeth, a fluked tail and grappling hooks. This large monster would slide down the mountain slopes with its mouth open, catching any victim that passed. It's believed many groups of people have been swallowed up by the monster this way. There aren't any known reports of this creature any longer. Some say that a park ranger killed it using gun powder and tricking the monster by using a scarecrow. Others say that the creature resembles a rock.

The updated blog pack

It has to be made, another page about the blog's friends. Calling it "She Wolf Night team" or "She Wolf Night Gang" is cheesy! So its just Friends of this blog, my dear pack friends and lycanthrope ladies. So the members include Wolf Girl Night (a.k.a. Luna), Rayne, Violet Dark, Charlotte Woods and Foxglove.

We plan to cover mostly paranormal, strange mysteries and sometimes curiosities. Foxglove is new and she's into crafts, holistic science and astronomy. Charlotte Woods talks about food and Violet Dark likes the news and natural world. Wolf Girl Night writes film reviews. I talk about fairy tales, myths, and magical things. We will each contribute something, even ideas and suggestions.

Next to come... A strange cryptid.

Thanks, enjoy the week ahead!

A new pack member and poem

This is going to be a short post tonight, as I want to introduce a new member of the She Wolf Night blog team. Her name is Foxglove. I will leave it here with this poem.

"Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf"

As soon as Wolf began to feel
That he would like a decent meal,
He went and knocked on Grandma's door.
When Grandma opened it, she sa
w

The sharp white teeth, the horrid grin,
And Wolfie said, 'May I come in?'
Poor Grandmamma was terrified,
'He's going to eat me up!' she cried.
And she was absolutely right.
He ate her up in one big bite.
But Grandmamma was small and tough,
And Wolfie wailed, 'That's not enough!
I haven't yet begun to feel
That I have had a decent meal!'
He ran around the kitchen yelping,
'I've got to have a second helping!'

Then added with a frightful leer,
'I'm therefore going to wait right here
Till Little Miss Red Riding Hood

He quickly put on Grandma's clothes,
(Of course he hadn't eaten those).
He dressed himself in coat and hat.
He put on shoes, and after that,
He even brushed and curled his hair,
Then sat himself in Grandma's chair.
Comes home from walking in the wood.'

In came the little girl in red.
She stopped. She stared. And then she said,
'What great big ears you have, Grandma.'
'All the better to hear you with,'
the Wolf replied.
'What great big eyes you have, Grandma.'
said Little Red Riding Hood.
'All the better to see you with,'
the Wolf replied.
He sat there watching her and smiled.
He thought, I'm going to eat this child.
Compared with her old Grandmamma,
She's going to taste like caviar.

Then Little Red Riding Hood said, '
But Grandma, what a lovely great big
furry coat you have on.'

'That's wrong!' cried Wolf.
'Have you forgot
To tell me what BIG TEETH I've got?
Ah well, no matter what you say,
I'm going to eat you anyway.'

The small girl smiles. One eyelid flickers.
She whips a pistol from her knickers.
She aims it at the creature's head,
And bang bang bang, she shoots him dead.

A few weeks later, in the wood,
I came across Miss Riding Hood.
But what a change! No cloak of red,
No silly hood upon her head.
She said, 'Hello, and do please note
My lovely furry wolfskin coat.'
