Hello and welcome to She Wolf Night. This blog discusses most things about eerie, strange phenomena, including lycanthropy and werewolves. Finally I will point out that this blog uses cookies.
It is with myself and others that we post this farewell to Blogger. I've been on here since 2010 and after so long, it's time to concentrate on home and work, so I will say Goodbye. A very warm and mystical farewell. I hope you all enjoy reading the content of this blog, which has been on for years.

In July it's the start of the Summer holidays and not associated with anything spooky at all. It's often happy and full of sunshine. Visiting the beach during a hot day, with celebrations, camping and BBQ parties, and enjoying lazy afternoons. The odd strange encounter has never changed the warm nature of Summer. Those are listed below.
Often on 4th July, an army of phantom soldiers on spectral horses march through Yarnton! It's believed this is the English Civil War cavalry of King Charles I, who sneaked through the area to avoid detection by Parliamentary forces. The ghosts appear at Froggledown Lane, which used to be a main road during the mid 17th century and today is a footpath. (Note - the date is from Paranormal Database, while other sources have the haunting every year on 3rd June).
More battle hauntings in Weston Zoyland in Somerset, of the 5th July every year, the war continues. Ghosts of mounted soldiers ride quietly near the field of Sedgemoor, and eerie voices can be heard shouting commands. A Lady in White apparition manifests by the river searching for her deceased lover who died in the war of Monmouth's rebellion. At Bridgewater, on the 6th July, the soldiers of Duke Monmouth sang songs after the war ended, which is still heard today every year.
In Lyndhurst, Hampshire, the 7th July brings a sinister Halloween type phase shadowing the area, especially around the manor house of Glasshayes, a picturesque castle once home to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Now demolished due to dangerous infrastructure, it was a hotel for a while and people experienced being spied on by phantoms looking through the windows even upstairs! Music can still be heard in the area. It's now planned to transform the site into residential homes.
16th July, Horton in Dorset, an ash tree is the site where the ghost of Duke of Monmouth carries his head under his arm! They named the tree Monmouth's Ash. It can be found in the local woodlands. It's believed that if you run around this tree thirteen times in an anti-clockwise position, you will summon a tree spirit.
The strange village of Horning in Norfolk is supposed to have a timeslip every five years on 21st July. In folklore legend, the village will revert back to how it looked exactly as it was centuries ago. Witnesses have experienced unsettling changes in the landscape and different architecture, at the Norfolk Broads. It's believed the entire village of Horning changes into how it once looked in the past. The next time it's supposed to morph again will be 21st July 2026. On the Daily Star, an expert named Robert Pulme warns that the Summer heat will cause demonic possessions! He says that demons are connected to intense heat, making them even more active during a scorching temperature. He told that demons will likely become more powerful during high red alert temps. That being said, watch out for those spicy red chilli sauces! 👹
Spooky feet goings on in a shop. There's a hardware shop in Mendoza, Argentina that seems actively haunted and it's frightening the staff. Strange sounds came from nowhere, and then the visible hand and footprints, small and child sized, often wet and muddy. However, even though the shop floor is washed, the following morning the tiny footprints return. They resemble children's bare footprints, as well as hand prints that look like kids crawling about. Some link this to the history of the site, where it used to be a poor area with small housing full of immigrant people.
A man in China named Jiang Xueqin, has been called a seer for having interesting visions. He's been nicknamed China's answer to Nostradamus. He's made many predictions in the past that have come true, including the Iran war and of Donald Trump becoming U.S. president again. More on his predictions here at the Daily Mail article.
Now for superhuman abilities. People living in a remote part of the Andes have been drinking toxic water containing arsenic that could kill other humans. They've become immune to the contaminated water, Local people in a village of the Andes mountains are genetically adapted to arsenic. Scientists say that this is part of human evolution that is an interesting study and a surprise.

During a Summer heatwaves, it makes many of us feel lazy! Wildlife are adapted to things like the change of seasons and temperatures. Domestic dogs and wolves don't naturally sweat like human do but they pant, shed fur and keep in the shade. Therefore I want to argue that people taking their dogs out for walks in a heatwaves should keep to the shade, bring some water along, and not stay out much. Dogs actually don't like going for walks during a heatwaves, especially the old.
So how do polar bears and arctic foxes cope in wildlife centres during summer? There are zoos with cold fridge pools of water, designed for polar animals. Polar bears are given large iced lollies full of treats including fish.
On further note, the Earth during a summer heatwaves is still "cold" in comparison to the Cretaceous era climate! Very few modern wild animals could cope with it, if sent back in time! The majority of mammals would hate the Cretaceous weather so much, apart from mice, rats and honey badgers! Also opossums, river otters and bats too would do well. Other animals such as birds, snakes, crocodiles and alligators would be okay.
Humans would adapt also, by finding various coastal settlements or high altitude dwellings, safe from big land predators. People would resort to being hunter gatherers due to the Cretaceous landscape unsuitable for farming crops. Diet would be mostly dinosaur meat, fish, eggs, ferns, marrow, and prehistoric fruits. Of plants, the safest to eat would be fiddleheads, ferns, horsetails and pine nuts. (Storm Valkyrie says: "Humans won't be immune to pathogens that was around during that time.")
How would werewolves survive this era? The Cretaceous was extremely hot, so werewolves would remain nocturnal and more so, hunting smaller prey at night. Werewolves would end up living in caves or deep tunnels they burrow themselves. They would live in tropical dense moist forests or beside the coast. The north and south poles during the Cretaceous period would be more easier to live for werewolves, modern animals and humans but still competition from dinosaurs.

It's very strange that traces of dinosaurs found in Scotland are all centred on the misty Isle of Skye. Every cool new information about the Jurassic period is found centred on the Isle of Skye, and it holds the most treasures that interest many working in paleontology.
All of the dinosaurs found in Skye are of the Middle Jurassic. Skye is a time capsule, with multiple dinosaur species bones and footprints all over. They found some complete dinosaur skeletons there. Isle of Skye has folklore and legends about creatures such as dragons called Beithir. One lives deep underground beneath Dunvegan Castle. There are the fighting dragons on the rocky hills of Quiraing. Deadly dragons haunt the Loch Coruisk.
The gathering of footprints belong to so many types of dinosaurs that scientists call it a "Dino Disco"! The Jurassic dance floor is a pattern which reveals that Skye was once a tropical lagoon connected to a larger continent. There's sauropods, stegosaurus, theropods including relations of T-rex. There's even the fossil of Dearc sgiathanach ("winged reptile" in Gaelic), which is the biggest pterosaur on record.

June is filled with strange events that are unexplained and paranormal. Another post by Violet Dark placed a link to a number of British ghosts appearing in June. I shall place a link to that entry HERE. Many of these short descriptions on The Paranormal Database are brief, and I've dug a bit deeper. While many of them are just local legends that I won't bother mentioning, other stories remain a mystery and have no logical explanation.
On the 11th June 1906, a celebrity named Lily Cove visited Haworth Gala. She was on a hot air balloon that malfunctioned, and she parachuted out. As she was descending, she was avoiding the reservoir because she couldn't swim so she directed herself to fall on the ground instead. Shocked onlookers were helpless as they watched her falling to her death. Her body was taken to the Old White Lion Hotel and kept in room number 7. Her funeral was held on the 14th June and she's buried in Haworth Cemetery. The superstar's ghost has been seen in the Old Lion Hotel, in the room number 7 especially, at the bar, in the village and she always visits on the 11th June.
At an eerie land called Horsey Mere in Norfolk, the ghosts of children are heard laughing and playing. It's believed these are spirits of deceased kids from ancient time who were drowned, murdered or sacrificed, as their bodies were weighted down. The area is so cold and bleak even in Summer, and especially during the haunted 13th June where the children still play by the waterside.

Cadbury Castle is the site where the ghost of King Arthur appears every 20th June. The fairy tale looking site in Somerset with the mystical hillfort surrounded by woodlands. Some believe that this place is Camelot. There's legends of phantom horses, ghost knights, King Arthur and even a dragon who guards hidden treasure in a cave. Excavations done in the area in the 20th century found very old Dark Age structures, placing it back to 5th and 6th centuries AD. It's also believed that the King and his knights never died either, and all under a long sleeping spell, ready to wake up for England's hour of need. On Midsummer night's eve a secret door will open at the side of the hill, then King Arthur, along with his knights, will emerge.
In the same place, an ancient track leading from Cadbury Castle to Glastonbury Tor is the hell road during stormy nights, and a dangerous Wild Hunt. uses this!

She Wolf Night
Its believed that ferns bloom with a special magic flower only on the eve of Midsummer. It's blue in colour and can be sown by gathering of fern seeds. If sown at midnight, the blue flowers will grow from them during Midsummer Eve and help with magic powers, including treasure seeking and invisibility. This is part of old English folklore.
Romantic spookiness? The solstice in Summer could help young women foresee their future husbands. This folklore involved many similar tales. Find some herbs including St John's Wort, roses and yarrow, make sure these are placed under the pillow. Get some good sleep and the dreams will be about their future husbands. Another one is to silently cook a meal, sat nothing at all, and put an empty plate and chair at the table. The astral form of the future husband should arrive!

A blue moon is rising on 31st May 2026. what does this mean and how will it affect us? Does it cause harm? Why is it blue?
While not actually blue in colour, it was interpreted as this when the eruption of volcano Krakatoa erupted in 1883. Another volcano, Mount St Helens erupted in 1980 that made the moon look blue. While the moon turned blue, the sun turned green and this phenomena lasted for months.
Across the world, people referred to the days of the green sun and blue skies were turned red, while the nights had a sapphire moon (not to be mistaken with the Bath and Bodyworks perfumes). These strange celestial colours of moon, sky and sun lasted for up to two years.
This eruption in 1883 happened in Indonesia. It was so loud that it burst eardrums of sailors 40 miles away from the volcano. But this event has nothing to do with the rare "once in a blue moon" occurrence.
Folklore of a blue coloured moon ranges from omens of plague, stories of grief, loss and broken hearts. This applies to the colour blue, and also a second full moon within the same month. Modern witches, Wiccans, pagans and other spiritual beliefs have different ideas of a blue moon and what it means. They see it as a positive time for growth, inspiration, divine feminine, fertility, spell working and esoteric inner wisdom.
Werewolves, in folklore, are believed to be more stronger and powerful during a blue moon! They can be faster and much more dangerous. It's believed they can even be cured during a blue moon.

May starts off with May Day celebrations that includes maypole dancing, May Queen parades and fairy festivals. Over on the continent, they celebrate the paranormal on Walpurgis Night including ghosts, demons, werewolves and witches, very much centred on spring at the beginning of the month. It's blended with Christian and Pagan folklore, feasts and fires. So much popularity across different locations from Sweden, Germany, Estonia and Finland, that Walpurgis Night is called the "other Halloween", one during spring.
In Ireland, drinking water from St Bridget's Well on the first nine days of the month was believed to cure diseases. Over in Lough Leane in County Kerry, every seven years a ghost of a warrior riding on a white horse appears from the lake, and this is believed to be O'Donoghue. In the same location during fog at night, a shadowy person is seen walking a spectral dog.
On 1st May in South Walsham Broad in Norfolk, a recurring phantom always appears of a Viking longboat on fire out in the lake. This is believed to be a Viking funeral boat that keeps haunting the waters. It was the exact location that experienced Viking raids multiple times.
May Day celebrations really do have fairy legends. The Strid is a dangerous part of River Wharfe in North Yorkshire, but it's mystical too. It's the location of a powerful fairy queen and her pale horse that emerge on 1st May and drowns anyone who gets too near the water.
Phantoms are also heard too on May Day. Beautiful female singing voices can be heard from the ruins of Godstow Nunnery in early morning on first of May. You may catch a glimpse of a pretty ghost lady wearing Medieval dress, believed to be Rosamund Clifford, the famous mistress of king Henry II.
In Wales, at the Brecon Beacons is a small lake called Llyn Cwm Llwch, is full of strange stories about a woman who uses magic to drown people and restore her youth. There's a magic portal, located on an islet. A secret door on a rock that opens on 1st May and leads to the fairy realm. Once a man stole a flower and was cursed. The flower belonged to the fairies. Rules are that they can offer you fruit, play you music and tell prophetic stories but you must never take anything from the fairies or a curse will happen to you.
Now forward a bit. On the third Tuesday of May, a loud Medieval, or Roman, ghost party occurs at the salt marshes at Salthouse Pool in Norfolk. This happens late at night and witnesses saw scenes of small fires, singing, dancing phantoms, eating and drinking. Don't be lured to that party.
In Lewes, Sussex, at Offham Hill are sounds of an ancient battle. It's a recurring haunting on 25th May that happens each year. It's believed to be a replay of the Battle of Lewes in 1264 where 3,000 people died. People have reported seeing ghostly knights over there fighting.

This is a very old place in Huntsville, Alabama. Maple Hill is a cemetery founded in 1822 although there is evidence that some graves might be even older. During the American Civil War, hundreds of soldiers of Confederate and Union were buried there. It's one of the largest cemeteries in Alabama since it grew and developed, overlapping former playing fields, picnic park and a playground. The playground rides still remain there to amuse kids when families go and visit graves. It's become known as an infamous haunted location, "Dead Children's Playground".
In the daytime when people pay respects and visit the cemetery, laying flowers on the graves of loved ones, they notice an eerie atmosphere within the playground. Swings often move on their own, while there wasn't even a small breeze. Then there's creepy sounds of laughter when no one else is there. It seems as if spirits of children like playing on the rides!
People have seen full apparitions as well as floating orbs and spectral lights. The playground is surrounded by a large limestone rocks that make creepy cold shadows. Others can remember when they were kids, and seeing spirits of children playing in the haunted playground. Others have shared multiple experiences of their own online about when they visited the haunted site. Portugal is filled with mysterious places. I wanted to focus on a small enchanted place which is like a pearl. A chapel in the middle of the ocean! Only during high tide and located on Miramar Beach in Gulpilhares, District of Porto in Portugal.
The chapel faces the mainland, and visible all the time, during the day from sunrise until sunset. Sometimes it looks unique on top of steps. Other times it seems surrounded by the sea.
Hexagon shaped, double sided alter within, statues of religious icons, the interior is a baroque style and includes a spiral staircase. It was built in 1686 and looks very much like a sand castle. It's survived menacing storms and huge waves beating around the rocks. One of the legends about deciding to build a chapel there was a vision of divine light leading a ship to safety.
The connection with magic comes from stories and legends of Pagan rituals. The exact site was a location of ancient Celtic peoples worshipped on there for thousands of years. During the full moon, it's a significant place for modern Pagans who bring candles.
Behind the chapel is a stone with a mysterious hoof print, called "Mark of the Ox" believed to be from a legend of an ox warming baby Jesus and also could be a horseshoe print belonging to a horse ridden by King Sebastian.
During Feast of the Lord of the Stone, which lasts three days, a procession of mysterious hooded women lead the festivities. This blends food from Christian faith as well as from local cuisine. Christians and Pagans both value the sacred site.

Tonight is the full moon, and is the Flower Moon. This is going to be an interesting month as there will be another full moon later on 31st May. We'll experience two full moons during May 2026, the Flower Moon and then the Blue Moon.
Two moons during one month is rare but not completely strange. But two suns is very science fiction, dreamlike and in the realms of fantasy fiction. Scientists believe now that a binary star system would make a happy bunch of planets. To read more on the subject visit Space.com article.
Researchers found urban birds, such as pigeons, blackbirds, crows, gulls, magpies, are more afraid of women than men, Is this true? If so then it could be connected to a woman perfume or her menstrual cycles. They don't know why this is: Nautilus: Birds afraid of women
Fred Andersson posted a photograph of a troll that was taken in the forest near Steninge Castle in Sweden. The area itself is full of mystery and ancient sites from Bronze Age mounds, Viking forts and runestones. The photo was taken of Fred on a road beside a ruin, but the strange troll figure was seen among the background staring into at the camera. Afterwards Fred saw an unusual light in the sky. This has been on topic for many these past few weeks. A short video clip, possibly a wildlife camera or trail camera, positioned in the undergrowth has captured an animal sniffing at it, then exposing it's sharp teeth before leaving. A lot of people believe it's a wolf. Is it a bear, coyote, wolverine or hyena?

I made a still image taken of this clip and asked various websites what it could be. Delving deeper into advanced Google mode, it said no evidence of AI was used, but gave possibilities, such as mentioning the Caucasian shepherd dog, mainly, then also mentioned Death Dogs from the film "Willow". It even pointed out horror film costumes and stories about werewolves! It seemed to suggest this might be faked but not AI, possibly a mask or costume designed by artists. The answers were inconclusive, either a prop or an actual living dog (the bear-dog) like this:

After doing an image search, Bing, Google, Yahoo and so on contradicted one another about this. Another examined its frame and said it was a fictional clip and not wildlife photography. TinEye didn't seem to want to examine the photo. Yandex identified the creature as a wolf. DuckDuckGo was certain it was all artificial including the trees. So whatever it is just don't be afraid.

Firstly, for those who don't know about Atlantis: a legendary island "beyond the Pillars of Hercules" according to Plato the Greek philosopher. Pillars of Hercules is the modern day Strait of Gibraltar. The island was larger than "Libya and Asia combined". Described as beautiful, then it was destroyed and has never been found. The destruction of Atlantis happened 9,000 years earlier before Plato!
England's Atlantis: There was a smaller island off the coast of England that is part of legend. This mystery lost island is called Lyonesse. This was in the sea near Cornwall, southern England. Lyonesse is mentioned in the Arthurian legends. It's connected to hero Tristan, who is the same from Tristan and Isolde love story. Tristan's father was the king of Lyonesse but Tristan's home was Cornwall. Lyonesse itself was fertile and rich of minerals with beautiful towns, 140 churches and a cathedral. It was said to be a paradise and then destroyed in a single night.
Some say that the Seven Stones Reef is the exact location of what's left of Lyonesse today. Some believe the Scilly Islands are the remnants of Lyonesse. The only survivor of that fateful day was a man named Trevelyan who rode to Cornwall on a white horse. Fishermen often say they can hear eerie ghostly church bells coming from under the waves beneath their boats.
My conclusion: I believe the fairy-tale island called Lyonesse was a real place off the coast of Cornwall. Also for arguments sake, Lyonesse is NOT Doggerland, all of that Ice Age material is buried in the North Sea.

One of the most saddest dog breeds ever was the turnspit dog. It was a working dog, bred to keep cooking meat turning over the fire. Wooden wheels were placed in kitchens and fixed with a chain, designed for these small dogs to run around inside. These dogs were made to run around the wheel for several hours or the duration it took to roast large joints of meat. It was okay for people to relax from doing the turning themselves but painful for the dogs.
These dogs were often trapped inside wheels for so long, in smoke filled kitchens, hot and near open fires, exhausted and unable to drink during these shifts as they were covered in blisters. There were often pairs of these dogs that took turns. In busy large kitchen in places such as inns and castles, there would be more than one such wheels with dogs inside.
I never saw anything like that in World of Warcraft taverns! Popular media, films, games and comics even tend to shy away from this awful fact for not including turnspit dogs or featuring any creatures in the same sad conditions.
It was said that people liked taking turnspit dogs to church with them just to keep them warm. Churches were always so cold, and so the congregation always shivered during mass. Turnspit dogs were believed to have warmth from cook fires still on them, and were placed on laps or as foot warmers. Once in Bath, a bishop was giving a sermon and mentioned the word "wheel", which terrified all of the dogs, who ran for the door. It shows that the dogs were so traumatised.
These dogs were also used to run around in wheels for mills to power butter churns, grain mills and water pumps. The dogs endured extremely horrific, hard and painful conditions, while also getting burned or have things thrown at them. Later on, people became so upset by the treatment of these dogs, that an animal welfare charity was founded, which is now today known as the RSPCA.
The turnspit dog breed became extinct at the turn of the 20th century. Kitchens no longer needed them anymore since the Industrial Revolution resulted in better cooking technology. A rather distressing piece of that cruel history displays a taxidermy of the last turnspit dog in Abergavenny Museum in Wales. While many believe this was a British eccentricity during the Middle Ages until Victorian times, there's evidence that there were similar dogs in ancient Egypt.
A shameful part of history that allowed suffering of animals and more chilling than tales of werewolves and ghosts. In this subject, humans were the monsters here.

April begins with the scary April Fools Day jokes. Then following that this year was Easter. I posted about the Easter Bunny sightings in a previous entry.
A frequent haunting that happens every year in Ludham, Norfolk, on 2 April are the sinister sounds made by Viking raiders. They can manifest late at night and move towards the bridge, blowing their horns.
It's believed that in Hinckley, Leicestershire, gravestones bleed! On the 12 April, every year, when poplar trees show green colour, red blood dribbles on the graves, connected to a murder from 1727.
More on blood, in Bolton, Greater Manchester, recurring spookiness on 24 April. An area on the stone floor in Smithills Hall shows a blood stained footprint appear there. This is believed to have been to do with George Marsh, who was executed in 1555 wrongfully and has haunted the place ever since.
St Marks' Eve in a church on 24 April, a haunting occurs that happens in Haxey, Lincolnshire. Two men heard that seeing the phantoms on that night will change destiny. One of the men was wide awake when he saw spirits of people he knew. Before the year was out, everyone that he claimed to see as phantoms had died, and also himself too!
In Burrough Green, Cambridgeshire, there is a school that has an interesting legend, on the evening of 30 April, two statues come to life. They dance and leave footsteps in the grass.
Now personal story. A user by the name of "sleep always party n" said that when she was a kid, her sister would see ghosts. One night she heard her sister say "No I can't do that, she's my sister, " The user remembers seeing her sister's face change then and looking evil then returning to her own face.

While Easter is a cheerful innocent time with chocolate eggs, symbols of cute chicks and bunny rabbits, there's a less mentioned creepier darker side. A lot of people have remembered seeing scary entities, in the shape of rabbits. Perhaps the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland was more eerie than first assumed, as it lured an innocent child far away into uncertain dangerous, even deadly places. I will mention some of the experiences mentioned by others.
A Reddit user named "bonafidebunnyeyed" remembers seeing a frightening thing as a child. At night the kid looked out of their bedroom window and saw something creepy further up the street. It was described as a tall rabbit shaped figure, dirty, crooked ears and very long legs with rabbit feet. It scared him so much that he hid in bed. That wasn't even it, because then the same creature appeared in the house and left a basket of sweets in the bedroom!
Another Reddit user "EldestFreeman" has a childhood memory of seeing a sinister rabbit while playing egg hunt games. There was a wooded area and the kid searched for eggs alone until he saw a strange creature. It was a very tall humanoid rabbit leaning against a tree, that turned to look at him. The kid was so scared that he ran crying to his family. Even today this memory disturbs the user and they're hoping it was a dream.
More users have shared seeing tall rabbits with humanoid features except rabbit ears and feet. However the faces of these rabbit monsters are often left to the imagination because people don't describe them. All they've said about the rabbit entities are their faces look frightening and malicious.
Other people remember these Easter Bunny things as looking tall and often strangely appearing in their houses, but were not people dressed up. There's something scary they remember. Some very weird goings on. First I want to mention that humans were never meant to travel through space, even at longer distances. That will annoy science fiction fans, who so much want to make their dream of travelling through space and living on other planets to become a reality.
There is Artemis II launched today, the first manned mission to the moon for half a century. I'll also remain quiet about my views concerning the earlier moon landings. This time round, they will make a flight around the moon, then return. No one will actually intend to land on the moon here, but there's future plans to set up bases on both moon and Mars. However, earlier this year an astronaut named Michael Fincke, was on ISS then had to be sent home to Earth after getting a sudden unknown illness.
Another story for sci-fi fans is about a robot freaking out during a dinner! It was at a restaurant named Haidilao Hot Pot, in California, where customers were eating their meals. A robot arrived for entertainment and "dancing" when it became hyper, swinging its arms and crashing plates of food everywhere. Several people had to restrain it.
