Howling message

It's always been believed those born on Christmas Day are werewolves. If this is true then don't worry, it's a special day and shared with the birthday of many gods. This is said to come from ancient superstition with the night time being very long. During the 12 nights of Christmas, from 25th December until Epiphany on 6th January. This is during the Wild Hunt season.

Everyone enjoy a very happy Christmas and Yule!

Paranormal Yule and 12 days

There is a season during Yule that is the darkest and eeriest time of the year. It's far more chilling than Halloween, mainly because it's when the veil is completely down letting in all spirits and other entities. It's when we're at our most sensitive and may feel intense due to the energy changes. It's much colder than it was in October, not to mention darker, because the sun is barely visible. This time lasts for two weeks, and begins on 25th December and lasts until the 5th January. It was recognised among ancient people inthe past, and they incorporated it with religious festivals.

The 25th December is during the Roman holiday Saturnalia, of feasting and gift giving. It also celebrated the birth of the sun god Sol Invictus. Roman soldiers recognised it was the birth of the Persian god of light Mithra. The Germanics celebrated Yule and the Winter Solstice. Many divinities and gods were born on the 25th December and these are Horus, Osiris, Attis, Dionysus, Heracles, Adonis, Krishna, Buddha, Mithra, Zarathustra, Thammuz, Sol Invictus, Hermes and Jesus Christ. Everywhere people celebrated the birthdays of the gods, seeing the return of the sun and new life.

Adults have shared their most scariest Christmas stories that can't be explained even now. From creepy elves, glowing Santa apparitions and ghosts hiding in Christmas trees, many people have posted their supernatural Yule themed stories on Buzzfeed, so have a peek HERE

Do I have anything to share? Okay I will share a few. At the age of 6, I woke up in bed and saw an angel in my room. She looked very shining and beautiful, then disappeared. Years later when I was about 10 years old, there were the sounds of sleigh bells coming from the sky but there wasn't anything there making it. As a kid I'm sure someone invisible was playing tricks and stealing some of my toys whenever alone in my room as these objects vanished mysteriously without trace. It happened during Winter so I wonder if there was something to it.

Many people have encountered angelic beings and often these are very positive and comforting. Some are connected to spirits, graveyards and the passing of loved ones. For a list of 15 creepy photos of angels, click on the link to Ranker article HERE.

December ghosts

December is a spooky time associated with the paranormal. It's the darkest month of the year, and also a favourite time for listening to ghost stories and fairy tales. While everyone is familiar with the holiday theme of Santa bringing gifts down the chimney, itself now impossible due to the design of modern houses, that is just one mythical and friendly spirit of December. There are the small elves called Santa's little helpers, the Christmas tree fairies, angels, enchanted flying reindeer, gnomes (some called gonks) witches, et al. I can only mention some of them.

During the Winter Solstice (21st December), ghosts and evil spirits from all over gather at a site called Stiperstones in Shropshire. Here they meet up and select a ruler for the year. It's overseen by the Devil who sits on a rock, called the Devil's Chair. It's said that if the rock sinks into the ground, England will collapse. The Devil always sits on the same rock and tries to break it, especially during stormy nights.

At Cornwall is a cave called Pendeen Fogou (Pendeen Vau), with the story of a phantom lady who appears every Christmas. The fogue is an ancient structure that leads deep underground, and a spectral woman in white appears. She holds a bright red rose, sometimes in her mouth, and beckons people to go with her into the cave. Anyone who follows her will experience misfortune and even looking at her will cause doom.

In Tarpot area of Cumbria, a very old local legend of a farmer and his horse vanishing without trace on Christmas Eve. He was returning home from visiting an inn, but then they were never seen again. Each year on the anniversary of the disappearance, both farmer and his horse are seen as apparitions.

Another recurring haunt is at Corcomroe Abbey in County Clare, a ghostly pair of lovers meet during Christmas. It's a tragic story of a poet named Cearbhall and a princess named Eibhlin, daughter of the king of Scotland. They both wanted to marry at midnight on Christmas Eve in secret because the king disapproved of Eibhlin with Cearbhall. The king followed them and murdered them both. Every year their ghosts are seen on Christmas Even night.

Again the Devil is believed to walk across Cromwell Bridge at Stony Hurst in Lancashire on Christmas Eve. It's never a good idea to look him in the eyes or if you do, legend says, he'll take your soul.

Lady Jane Grey haunts the location of Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. She visits the mansion and the grounds, which is where she was raised as a child. She returns there every Christmas Eve, often arriving in a coach pulled by a team of four spectral black headless horses.

Spooky church bells can be heard from places that no loner exist anymore. In Halam, Nottinghamshire, there was once a village named Radley that lies buried and lost somewhere in the valley. Church bells can be heard ringing on Christmas Eve from this area and no village in sight. Also in Preston, Lancashire, on every Christmas Eve, bells can be heard ringing from nowhere. It's believed to be ghostly sounds from a church that used to be there and sunk into the ground ages ago.

A strange parade of ghost pigs walk across the road every Christmas Eve in Calcutt, Wiltshire. They're described as small white pigs with red ears.

Have a wonderful Yule!

Christmas witches

While the season is much different to Halloween, the two holidays have much in common! There are a few such as feasts, of course, ghosts, ghost stories, colourful lanterns, monsters and witches. Witches are a very prominent theme of this Yule season of goodwill. Despite well meaningful wishes, cheerfulness, spreading merriment and happiness, the veil is lower than ever before. It's far more open that it was at Halloween. This time round, Halloween creatures and animals like spiders and bats are all keeping indoors hidden away for the cold months.

Christmas Witches that are very creepy and magical at the same time, always feared and making the season of joy a bit more anxious. Children are worried about them too. Who are these Christmas witches, you might ask, so let's explain:

Perchta

Gryla

Baboushka

La Befana

Lussi

Mrs Claus

Mari Llwyd

The Snow Maiden

Cailleach

Baba Yaga

These are often thought of so familiar that today they've almost turned nice and some appear to look very beautiful. Oh and yes let's mention the male Christmas witches or magical figures too:

Santa

Ded Moroz

Jack Frost

Krampus

Belsnickel

The Yule Lads

Anyway I hope this explains who these witches and creatures are but don't worry, be on your best behaviour. Some of those on the list are evil and others are kind.

Spooky quicks December 2025

Howls for December. It's that time again, and its come around because time is a circle. There are going to be some different additions to Spooky Quicks from now on, with people's added experiences included. I shall summarise on a few weird stories that entered the headlines and mention updates sometimes.

Critter story: Squirrels have been playing in a car, hoarding a secret stash of nuts for the winter, it seems! A motorist in China took his car to the local garage to fix issues with it as the car was making weird noises every so often. Then when the car's heating started acting up, he decided to get it seen to. It was the mechanic who discovered the problem with the car was inside the engine compartment. It was packed full of hazelnuts!

Space: The remarkable comet named 3I/Atlas has signs of water vapor and didn't break up when it reached near the sun, as other comets would have done. It's often styling itself, and has other incredible traits too that interest scientists. Among them it's powered by non-gravitational acceleration.

Cryptids: There are now files on Bigfoot available to see on the FBI website "The Bigfoot Files". Much of it's about reports, newspaper articles and discussions.

Moon: The full moon will appear on the 4th December 2025. It will be a supermoon and named Cold Moon, drifting through the Pleiades stars (or the Seven Sisters). The name Cold Moon refers to the arrival and winter and the season of long nights. It's the third and last supermoon of 2025. Supermoons are believed to be when werewolves are mostly active, according to folklore.

Shapeshifting: There is a man claiming that his wife turns into a snake. While this seems to be nothing more than a domestic, husband Miraj appears terrified and worries his wife may kill him. He claims Nasimun turns into a snake each night, who torments him even while he sleeps and even bit him. Nasimun says that her husband is lazy because he won't do anything to help her during pregnancy, and that he's been unfaithful behind her back.

Personal stories: A Reddit poster named "Vanilla Chocolate Kiss" shared a strange experience from childhood. Sometimes the girl woke up during the dead of night to see shadowy figures in the bedroom, watching her sleeping. She said this always happened whenever she woke up during the night in darkness. She used to completely hide under the blanket and felt someone touching her as if knowing it would scare her. She would then wake up her grandmother and tell her this, but was told it was her imagination.
