Loss of a star fox rescue

This is sad news for everyone especially at Save a Fox rescue. Mikayla Raines was the founder of the Save a Fox charity. She dedicated her life helping animals mostly wild and especially foxes. She rescued innocent animals from cruel fur farms and gave them happiness.

Sadly the world lost this amazing kind woman. She was a beautiful angelic soul. She didn't only work in helping animals but she truly loved them all. She helped to save lives and provided good homes for them in a healthy spacious environment.

Sadly Mikayla passed away on 21st June 2025 aged just 29. She will be forever missed. In sympathy to her friends and family. This is a tragic loss of life and the world grieves her as we do on She Wolf Night. She loved animals and cared for them so much.

Rest in peace Mikayla Raines

Changelings

It's Midsummer, a time of fairies and lowering of the veil. There is a very old belief in Changelings, who are fairies in the form of children. These were originally the infants of supernatural creatures like elves, fairies and trolls who were swapped with human babies. While the creatures whisked away human babies, they replaced them in the cots with their own children that were deliberately picked, those that were frail and sickly. Or sometimes they left pieces of wood behind in cots. The unfortunate parents never knew this until later on when they noticed something wasn't right about their children.

People used to find the changeling children badly behaved compared to other children. The parents never knew that their own children were stolen by the fairies, assuming the changelings were their own. Sometimes changelings were not quite human and caused trouble at home. However they looked human but they didn't always act normal. For this reason people protected their babies from the fairies by using mistletoe, iron, horseshoes, scissors left inside blankets and charms. Baptising the babies were believed to help protect them from fairies. Sometimes they made rituals to get their own children back.

It seems now that everyone doesn't believe in such fairy tales about changelings anymore. Such a folkish magical idea really does happen in nature though. These are usually among animals like fish, insects and birds. Officially the term is "brood parasite" when a host egg is put in the nest of a different species to trick the parents. Cuckoo birds are well known for doing this and there are many types of cuckoos. The most scariest of all is the Channel-billed cuckoo that is a ruthless brood parasite, and it also makes  chilling sounds. So if anyone needs to experience the horror of a changeling then do check out the Channel-billed cuckoo. It's one of many of nature's own cruel changelings.

Big dogs in myth

In myths and legends from many parts of the world feature large frightening canines. We know of Fenrir in Norse myth the giant wolf that symbolises the uncontrolled forces of nature. There is also Hati and Skoll, huge wolves that chase down the sun and moon. The most intriguing dog in Norse legend is the least known about Garmr who guards the realms of the Underworld.

In Welsh myth there is the huge dog Gwyllgi with terrible breath and glowing red eyes. He's able to paralyse anyone who sees him. This entity is associated with darkness and the night. He lives alone in forests and within shadows besides lanes. Another creepy monster dog is Barghest of English folklore. This entity is mainly connected to a particular dwelling. Often poltergeist activity is blamed on him. The most famous huge dog is Anubis, of Egyptian myth. He isn't depicted in large form but he does have the body of a man with the head of a jackal.

There are much more mythical monster dogs. Are they based on anything? Could they be symbolic? Scientists found the fossils of a huge dog called Epicyen, This dog was huge in size and belonged to a subgroup nicknamed "bone crushing", as it was true they were capable of it. There are also the dire wolves, the interesting thing about them is that they're more closely related to jackals than grey wolves. In prehistoric times there were may more types of big wolves such as the Beringian wolf. Their ferocity might've earned them a frightful reputation amongst humans during megafauna times.

Strawberry moon

The full moon in the month of June is called the Strawberry Moon. It will rise on the 11th June 2025. The name of Strawberry Moon is linked to pick strawberries in North America. It's a season when strawberries are full and ready to eat. Other names for the June full moon includes Mead Moon and Hot Moon.

The full moon in June 2025 will be the lowest full moon in the sky, nearest the horizon. It's been two decades since the last time when the moon will be very low. This is known as a "major lunar standstill" and will shine in the Southern sky. This moon will appear red as strawberries, especially in certain locations.

Reddish and pink moons are associated with paranormal activity, especially with werewolves. It's during the full moon phase of the moon that is connected to transformation in folklore, when werewolves become more active. A low red Strawberry Moon will be more unique as the moon will appear close to the horizon and significant red tinted. For those afraid of dangerous werewolf activities it's always best to stay at home during the night of the lowest full Strawberry Moon. Gather wolfsbane, wormwood, rue and silver to repel against werewolves.

Spooky quicks June 2025

It's believed that a terrifying giant snake was filmed. Located in the dense rainforests of the Amazon, an enormous anaconda believed to be the folklore legend was swimming in the river and captured on video. While others don't believe it, the video seems legit and watch it here at India Times link.

On 18th May 2025, a father and son with their dog went out fishing in Monroe County when they encountered Bigfoot. They described it as "big as a bear" although it resembled a "gorilla". Bigfoot was upright although seemed slouched, reaching at 6ft tall. According to the witnesses, it may have been taller if it stood up very straight. The dog barked at it, making the creature run away and then the dog chased after it for some distance until called! More details found here at BRFO.

A team of researchers made a radar scan of the structure near Mount Ararat, which some believe could be the Ark. Called the Durupinar Formation, it was first discovered by a shepherd after the regions disruption of earthquakes in 1948. Many debated about this site, with sceptics claiming it's a natural rock. However this new radar shows much more details that seem manmade. The Daily Mail covers this entire story here

A 3,000 year old Mayan city has been found in Guatemala. Called Los Abuelos "The Grandparents" it's got pyramids and monuments that will keep archaeologists busy with excavating many discoveries. It's about 13 miles away from Uaxactun (or Waxaktun), a sacred Mayan site with a Temple of the Masks. To read more info and see incredible photos of Uaxactun visit Maya Ruins article HERE

As for ghosts, a tragic story of a young Russian man plagued by an entity died after falling from a ninth floor window. Mikhail was 27 years old and living in a Pattaya condo in Thailand with his father. He was seen running around in a panic, who spoke about a ghost with "bulging eyes" that was trying to kill him. Later it was found that there was a lot of marijuana in the apartment that caused Mikhail to have scary hallucinations. For more on this sad story visit The Pattaya News HERE
